Psychology Association of Villa College Appoints New Executive Committee for 2026–2027
2 min read

Villa College has appointed the new Executive Committee of its Psychology Association for the 2026–2027 academic term. The appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the association, one shaped by a team selected for its readiness to lead with purpose, creativity, and a clear commitment to the student body.

Student governance plays a defining role in the culture and quality of any academic institution. When students step into leadership positions, they do more than manage events or oversee budgets. They develop the organisational, interpersonal, and strategic skills that prepare them for professional life beyond the classroom. At Villa College, this principle is embedded in how the institution approaches campus life. The Psychology Association, as one of the college's active student bodies, serves as a direct expression of that commitment, offering students a structured platform through which to take ownership of their academic and social environment.

The incoming committee comprises seven members, each entrusted with a distinct area of responsibility. Mariyam Thuga Shameem assumes the role of President, with Aishath Ainie Abdulla Arif serving as Vice President. Together, they will set the strategic direction for the association over the coming year. The operational foundation rests with Aishath Uswa Ahmed as General Secretary and Tholhath Hussain as Treasurer, whose combined oversight of administrative and financial matters will be essential to the association's day-to-day functioning. Fathimath Saina Ahmed takes on the position of Events Coordinator, tasked with planning and delivering activities that bring the student community together. Een Hassan Zaheen, appointed as International Relations Coordinator, will focus on building connections that extend beyond the college's immediate environment. Noor Hussain Rasheed rounds out the team as Social Media Coordinator, responsible for shaping the association's public presence and engagement across digital platforms.

For Villa College, the formation of this committee reflects a broader institutional philosophy. Investing in student leadership is not a peripheral activity; it is a deliberate strategy for cultivating graduates who are capable, confident, and community-minded. By entrusting students with real responsibility and the resources to act on it, the college reinforces its position as an institution where education extends well beyond the lecture hall.

The 2026–2027 term is now underway, and the newly appointed committee is expected to begin rolling out its programme of activities in the weeks ahead.
