Villa College's Qasim Ibrahim School of Business hosted an Industry Engagement Speaker Series session on 1st February 2026, bringing students face to face with one of the Maldives' leading voices in capital markets. The session, titled "Investment Returns, Risk and Governance in Stock Markets", offered an in-depth exploration of the principles that underpin sound investment decision-making and market integrity.
Noorbaan Fahmy, who serves as CEO of the Maldives Securities Depository and Chief Strategic Officer of the Maldives Stock Exchange, led the discussion. Drawing on extensive experience at the forefront of the nation's financial infrastructure, Fahmy provided students with insights into topics such as investment risk and return dynamics, the importance of robust market governance, and how transparency serves as a cornerstone of investor confidence.
The session was designed to be interactive, encouraging students to engage directly with concepts that shape real-world capital market operations. This hands-on approach reflects QISB's ongoing commitment to industry-linked learning, ensuring that students graduate not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical understanding of how financial markets function.
