Programme Details

Introduction

The Master of Clinical Psychology programme at UoC is a two-year course that provides a pathway for clinical psychology. Clinical psychology focuses on examining organism behaviour, personality and understanding the psychopathology that comes along in human adaptive responses towards the environment. Students are equipped with skills to conduct clinical interviews, assessment, clinical theoretical intervention as well as trained in behavioural science-based research. By the end of the programme, candidates will develop expertise in both academic and clinical settings as well as research and be directly involved in community mental health.

General Entry Criteria

  • A related Bachelor’s Degree OR

  • A related Graduate Diploma at level 8

Note:

  • In all entry criteria, “Related” implies that the applicant should have a Bachelor’ Degree in Psychology.
    All participants would be interviewed by faculty prior to selection.

The broader goals of the programme are as follows:

  • To provide training based on scientific principles that encompasses the following achievements:

  • Professionalism through professional attitudes, ethical conduct, and social responsibilities;

  • Leadership through teamwork, creativity and innovative, communication and social skills, critical thinking, problem solving and adhere to the evidence-based practice;

  • Lifelong learning through continual upgrading of knowledge and skills including ICT enabling to keep abreast with the rapid advancement of global knowledge in the field; and

  • Entrepreneurial and managerial concerns on other psychological issues that are relevant to local, national, and international context.

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will be able to:

  • To produce Clinical Psychologists who meet the professional requirements and expectations of the stakeholders.

  • To produce graduates who can contribute effectively in the community in the capacity of a Clinical Psychologist.

  • To prepare Clinical Psychologists for employment in the fields of welfare agencies, rehabilitation centre, schools, colleges, community centres, non-governmental organisations and private sector companies

  • To produce Clinical Psychologist who are sensitive and responsive towards the community, culture, and the environment
