Programme Details

Introduction

This program is designed to give our students strong theoretical foundations in Political Science and International Relations in combination with real world insights. This includes ample use of case studies that provide insights on how to properly use models, analytical tools, strategic planning, policymaking, diplomacy, international negotiations and more. Students would also benefit from the specialized expertise of guest lecturers.

Students are challenged to develop their communication, analytical and problem-solving skills through focus on practical and experiential activities requiring practical application within the political and international arena.

General Entry Criteria

  • 2 passes in A Level/HSC (At GCE A/L, a pass is considered E and above. HSSC pass is considered C and above.) OR

  • Pass in Shahaadha Saanaviyya OR

  • Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR

  • Attainment of a Level 4 Foundation Study Program approved for the specific Diploma program.

Alternative Entry Criteria

  • Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of an MQA-approved University Preparation Program OR

  • 20 years old, completion of secondary school, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of an MQA-approved University Preparation Program

Award: Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations

Upon successful completion programme participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of a coherent body of knowledge in the prescribed core areas and their underlying principles and concepts and their practical application in practical and social contexts in the political and international arena

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the values of justice and ethical practices to be abided by a graduate in the discharge of his/her role, in addition to displaying academic integrity in academic discourse

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively and persuasively communicate in English

  • Demonstrate research skills that equip the student to research solutions to complex problems using primary and secondary sources
