VILLA COLLEGE SIGNS MOU WITH COUNSELLING WITH INSTITUTIONS

Villa College signed an MoU with the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services and 4 Counselling Institutions on 26th October 2020. This MoU will enable the Bachelor of Psychology students to complete their practical component of the programme from these institutes. MoU was signed in a special ceremony held at Villa College. Including the ministry, partner institutions are CyMa Care, Society for Health Education (SHE), Institute for Counselling and Psychotherapy Pvt. Ltd. (ICP) and Maldives Institute for Psychology Services, Training and Research (MIPSTAR).In this event, Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Psychology programme, Dr. Aishath Nasheeda highlighted in her remarks, the importance of such an agreement for the Psychology students who will be beginning their practical components at the start of next year, 2021. Moreover, representatives from the partner institutions also stressed on the lack of trained professionals in this field, and the importance of integrating students in this field in order to give them a realistic picture of the field of Psychology in the Maldives. Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies, Mr. Abdul Sattar Gasim thanked the partner institutes for their commitment and dedication in improving mental health in the country and in partnering with Villa College, giving our students an exceptional opportunity to excel in this field.The first batch who will complete their practical in the Bachelor of Psychology programme will commence the component in January 2021.
