VILLA COLLEGE LAUNCHES BRAND NEW ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES FOR JANUARY 2021 INTAKE

We have launched 4 new programmes, adding to our programme portfolio tonight, with the introduction of Engineering programmes for the first time. The newly introduced programmes are Foundation in Engineering, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours).The programmes were introduced through a special virtual ceremony held via our YouTube channel. They were launched by the Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, Hon. Faisal Naseem. In his remarks, Vice President Faisal Naseem emphasized on the importance of such programmes during a time of need for technical level workers in the country. In this event, Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Mr. Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal also participated and congratulated Villa College for introducing new Engineering programmes. Minister Maleeh underlined the importance of Engineering programmes in the current situation, where economies around the world are facing a challenging time, through which difficulties are being faced for students who are going abroad for studies. Minister further stated that the introduction of such technical level programmes right here in the Maldives will open doors of opportunities for youth to pursue their higher education dreams here in their homeland. Our Rector, Dr. Ahmed Anwar stated that through the vision of our Chairman, Hon. Dr. Qasim Ibrahim, he hopes that the students of this country who aspire to become engineers will excel in this field by using this opportunity.More information about the launched programmes were delivered by our Vice Rector, Dr. Ali Najeeb. Dr. Najeeb stated further, that the graduates of these programmes will have instilled in them, the skills and competencies necessary for Industry 4.0, the 4th Industrial Revolution. Furthermore, as an expert of the engineering industry, Mr. Ahmed Nashith, Director of Technical Services and Green Energy at Fenaka Corporation, highlighted the importance of these programmes in the Maldives, with majority of the engineers in the industry being local. He stated further, that employment opportunities in various fields of engineering are already available for graduates and that they can make use of those opportunities by completing one of our engineering programmes. In addition, a local engineering student who is currently completing an engineering degree abroad, stressed the importance of having such programmes here in the Maldives, where students can complete them and obtain a quality higher education certificate while being with their families and loved ones. With the introduction of Engineering programmes, Villa College is offering more than 90 programmes in January 2021 Intake.
