Villa College launched the ACCA Accelerate programme on 24th December 2020, in a special ceremony held at Villa College, QI Campus. The ACCA Accelerate programme is designed for students who are studying our UWE BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance to receive exemption from ACCA Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills Level upon reaching the third year of degree. Students will then get the opportunity to sit for ACCA Strategic Professional Level modules in the third year. Addressing the attendees in the ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Business Management, Abdulla Nafiz highlighted that the introduction of this programme will enable accounting students to obtain an academic and professional qualification at the same time, giving our graduates a significant advantage in the current competitive job market. Chief Guest of this special ceremony was the Commissioner General of Taxation, Mr. Fathuhulla Jameel. In his remarks after launching these programmes, he mentioned that Villa College has revolutionized the educational landscape of the country within the last 13 years. He said further, that the introduction of ACCA Accelerate in the Maldives, will produce quality and qualified graduates that the Maldivian job market requires. In the closing remarks, Vice Rector of Villa College, Dr. Ali Najeeb reiterated that the College aims to produce graduates who have exceptional qualities, with outstanding characteristics to succeed in the job market and the introduction of ACCA Accelerate is a fitting testament to that fact.In this ceremony, Villa College also launched MSc Fast Track, a professional route for CIMA and ACCA members to complete he UWE MSc Accounting and Finance programme within 6 months by completing just 2 modules and a dissertation, and the Oxford Brooked University, BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting Project Mentoring programme for ACCA students, to complete an Accounting degree while working for their ACCA qualifications. Furthermore, Villa College is the only educational institute in the country which offers all three levels of ACCA. Villa College is offering a total of 104 programmes in the January Intake 2021, for which the College is still open for applications. The application deadline for January Intake 2021 is 31st December 2020.
