Our Institute for Research and Innovation (IRI) organised a Research Forum today (February 26, 2024), as part of the preparatory phase for shaping the Villa College Research Strategy. The forum's primary objective was to establish a conducive platform for key stakeholders to collaboratively identify priority research areas deserving of concentrated research efforts and foster strategic alliances with industry partners.
Dr Mohamed Adil, Deputy Vice Rector, Research and Innovation, delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the event. Following this, Dr Ali Najeeb elucidated the critical strategic directions guiding research endeavours at Villa College. The momentum continued with Dr Fazeela Ibrahim, Deputy Dean of Research, who led group discussions to delve into key research initiatives and cultivate strategic alliances between academia and industry. Dr Ahmed Anwar concluded the proceedings by outlining the future trajectory for collaborative research initiatives at Villa College.
This forum provided a platform for meaningful engagement among academics and welcomed the participation of government officials, industry partners, representatives from UN organisations, and members of civil society. The discussions revolved around ongoing research projects, emerging trends, and potential collaborative opportunities in research. Emphasis was placed on encouraging an open dialogue to gather unique insights and perspectives from stakeholders, thereby steering the future course of academic research at Villa College.
