An MoU has been signed between Villa College and Universal Foundation. The signing ceremony was held on 4 February at Villa College. While the Rector, Dr Ahmed Anwar, signed on behalf of Villa College, the president of Universal Foundation, Mr Iyaz Waheed, signed for the foundation. The purpose of the MOU is the development of human resources in the hospitality industry. This MOU is a continuation of the Discover Hospitality scheme that has been ongoing from 2017, at Certificate 3 level. More than 40 students have graduated with this certificate, and fully funded through this scheme. Discover Hospitality is a scheme that is open to all eligible students, under the full sponsorship of Universal Foundation. Training is carried out in food and beverage service, housekeeping and front office work, among other services. Students will complete the theory modules of the certificate at the Villa College Qasim Ibrahim campus in Male', after which the practical training will be done at various Universal resorts. Participants will get a monthly allowance of MVR 3,000 for the duration of the course. Anyone who has completed their basic education may apply for this programme; selection will be based on an interview. The deadline to apply for this programme, which will commence in June, is 30 March 2019. Villa College is happy to note that all the graduates from this programme are currently employed in the hospitality industry.
