The global effort to improve education in low resource settings has taken another leap forward with the successful completion of the second review workshop for the IDRC-funded project, "A Multimodal Approach to Teacher Professional Development (MATPD)". The consortium of international collaborators from Villa College of Maldives, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) of India, and the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) gathered in Mumbai, India for three days from 1st- 3rd February 2023 to evaluate the project's progress in reviewing data collected from Maldives, Nepal, and Afghanistan.
Hosted by the Centre for Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at TISS, the review workshop focused on reviewing project deliverables, comparing the progress of action research, and understanding challenges in a collaborative manner. The participants from all the countries engaged in fruitful discussions and exchanged ideas, strategies, and insights to enhance the project's outcomes.
This project aims to transform teacher professional development in low resource settings through a multimodal approach that leverages the latest technological tools and innovative pedagogical techniques. With the global pandemic exacerbating the existing inequalities in education, MATPD's efforts have become even more critical in bridging the gaps and providing equitable opportunities for quality education.
The MATPD project is a shining example of what can be achieved when international collaborators come together to address a common goal. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking project as it continues to make a positive impact on the lives of students and teachers across the globe.
