Villa College always strives to provide quality education by providing opportunities to develop skills outside the classroom. Today is a special day for students enrolled in Villa College psychology program. We take a step forward towards revolutionizing psychology and mental health in the country in establishing a psychology laboratory here at Villa College. Psychology lab is designed as a multi-purpose room for teaching, research, record and conduct experiments using tools and resources that are used by professional psychologists. It is a space created for students to learn and enhance skills, knowledge on psychological methods and analysis as well as experience complex psychological research. With this laboratory at Villa College, we hope to transform the teaching of psychology in the Maldives and build a generation of ethical researchers and skilled practitioners.

We understand that there is much work needed in the area of psychology and Mental Health, be it research, or providing services. Our students are taking initiatives to educate and promote mental health issues. Today final year psychology undergraduate students conducted a seminar at Villa College on Eliminating Stigma on different psychological issues and disorders. The discussion topics were on Autism Spectrum Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. The seminar was part of the Abnormal Psychology module assignment. The aim of this seminar was to develop students' knowledge on important issues. Through events like these Villa College psychology program aims to develops students' confidence, skills and graduates who are ready for social services, human resources, and work as assistant psychologists under the guidance of a supervisor.Applications for the new January Intake 2022 is open for psychology programmes and programmes from other areas as well.
