FBM conducted an 'Ask the Expert' External HR professionals panel Q & A session for students studying Management Skills module in BA (Hons) Business Management, BA (Hons) Business & Human Resource Management and BA (Hons) Business Management with Marketing courses. The experts for the session were Hussain Suaz and Asiyath Mohamed from the Bank of Maldives. The aim of the module is to provide the students with an opportunity to understand and practice some of the skills that are necessary for effectively managing people in the workplace for future line managers and HR professionals. In particular, the module focuses on interviewing, reviewing performance, conducting negotiations and delivery of training. The skills workshops are also designed to help them to learn and develop the skills, which will assist them in the applications for placements and graduate jobs and in managing and developing their own career. The module is organised thematically with each week's teaching contributing to the understanding of a fundamental management skill. The combination of preparation sessions containing the relevant theory and practical sessions involving role-plays, will ensure that our students get the opportunity to apply and practice the relevant skills and are made aware of the linkages from theory to 'real-life' application. The workshop sessions give them an opportunity to present their learned skills along with a great scope to enhance via received feedback. And tonight's session was about bringing the HR practitioners to reflect their experiences in their field of operation and provide insights of such as well as to interact with the students in a discussion with relation to the module.
