Our May 2020 Intake commences with around 43 programmes today, 14th March 2020. The semester commencement is marked with the orientation session for the new students. This semesters' orientation session is being held online through Moodle. All newly admitted and registered students are requested to go through the contents of the Orientations Page on Moodle. Students are required to take a short Quiz in order for them to complete the general orientation. The purpose of the new students' orientation is to welcome and introduce students to the Villa College rules and regulations, key services and resources that are available for the students to support their educational goals. The main parts of the orientation include the welcome by the Rector of Villa College, General rules and regulations, Online teaching and learning, Support services; Learning support, Student Services, Library Services, Student Ambassador Programme and Villa College Student Association, Student related policies and procedures, Orientation Quiz, Student testimonials, Ask VC: Discussion forum and FAQs In addition to this, faculties will conduct their individual faculty orientations. In these faculty orientations, the respective faculties and staff will be introduced, with the relevant programme orientations.During the current COVID-19 situation, all teaching and learning will be held through online means. Two teaching modes will be used for each module. They are, Synchronous learning; where online learning will be carried out through real-time activities (such as through live video via Hangout Meet or other live sessions) and Asynchronous learning; where classes will be delivered through recorded videos and structured tutorial activities.Online class schedules will be made available to students through Moodle and communicated to students by faculties before commencement.As some of our programmes are fully online, they will continue to be taught online even after the situation changes. However, most of our programmes are on-campus programmes, which are being taught online for the time being. They will return to normal as soon as possible.
