Celebrating International Women's Day with a Women’s Health & Wellness Screening

Villa College's Faculty of Health Sciences (VCFHS) recently hosted a highly successful Women's Health & Wellness Screening, drawing over 35 enthusiastic participants. The event focused on promoting health awareness, early detection, and empowerment among women.

The screening offered a comprehensive range of checks, ensuring a holistic approach to women's well-being. Participants benefited from Basic Health Screenings which included vital measurements such as height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels. The program also included Reproductive Health Screenings, with focused assessments conducted on breast health and cervical health. Furthermore, the event provided valuable information and guidance on medication management and overall wellness strategies, encapsulated in the "Know Your Medicine and Overall Wellness" component.

The initiative strongly aligned with several of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It directly contributed to SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) by providing essential health screenings and promoting preventative care. The event also supported SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the dissemination of health information and empowerment through knowledge. By specifically addressing the health needs of women and promoting their well-being, it aligned with SDG 5 (Gender Equality). Finally, the collaborative nature of the event, involving various stakeholders, reflected the principles of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Villa College extends its sincere gratitude to the Villa College Student Council (VCSC) for their invaluable support in promoting women's health and well-being. The college also acknowledges Care Plus for their generous sponsorship of the event, demonstrating their commitment to empowering women through health awareness.

Building on the momentum of this successful event, Villa College anticipates that this will be a catalyst for more health awareness programs in the future. The Faculty of Health Sciences remains committed to fostering a healthy and empowered community, and will continue to lead the way in promoting health education and preventative care initiatives.
