Application for the January 2020 Intake is now open!

Villa College is now open for applications for the January 2020 Intake.

The new intake offers the opportunity to join 97 different courses from Certificate level 1 to Master’s Degree programmes in different fields, including Information Technology, Computer Science, Teaching, Education, Sharia, Law, Islam, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Economics, Research, Pharmacy, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, Marine Studies and Water Sports.

Among these, there are 12 Master’s programmes, 5 Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate programmes, 21 Degree programmes, 17 Diploma programmes, 14 Certificate level 4 (Degree Foundation) programmes, 12 Certificate level 3 programmes, 2 Certificate level 2 programmes and 1 Certificate level 1 programme, as well as 8 programmes in Marine Studies. In addition, ACCA Knowledge level, Skill level and Professional level is also offered in the upcoming January 2020 intake.

In addition to Villa College’s own programmes, these include Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree programmes from the prestigious UK university, University of the West of England

Besides the opportunities to study at the QI campus in Male’, the same opportunities are available at all the Villa College campuses around the country.

Application deadline for the upcoming January 2020 intake is 26th December 2019, with studies set to commence within two weeks of the month of January.

Students will have the option to make their payments easily in monthly instalments throughout their programme. In addition, the students have the opportunity to study all the Bachelor’s Degree Programs offered in Villa College, through the Free First Degree Scheme by the government.

Customer Service Training conducted for our staff

A Customer Service training was conducted for the Villa College staff by Mr. Masood Ali on 26th September 2019. This training included various customer service techniques and practices. Our staff were engaged in a lively session where they identified numerous areas, in which the techniques and practices discussed in the session, that can be applied in the workplace.

Highlights of our 3rd Staff Meeting of 2019

Our 3rd Staff Meeting of 2019 was held on 17Th September 2019. As per usual, the first item on the agenda was the Staff Café Talk. Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef delivered a motivational speech on the topic “Develop your brand” in this meeting’s edition of the Staff Café Talk.

Afterwards, the staff who joined after the previous staff meeting was introduced, giving each new staff an opportunity to introduce themselves. This was followed by a presentation by the Marketing department regarding the new and upcoming programmes in Villa College. The Assessment Policy was then shared by Mr. Moosa Mohamed followed by a presentation on Learning Support by Mr. Ahmed Yasir. Certificates were also given to the Employees of the Month from January 2019 to July 2019, after which the Staff Newsletter Issue: Volume 04 No. 01 was released by our Vice Rector, Dr. Ali Najeeb. Appointment letters were given to the promoted staff in Center for Postgraduate Studies (CPS), Center for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) and Faculty of Educational Studies (FES) and also to the newly elected members of the Villa College Staff Club (VCSC) Executive Committee.

Certificates and gifts were given to the winners of the Bookmark Competition organized by the Villa College Library and to the users who borrowed the most items from the library. It was followed by a presentation by the VCSC President, Ms. Hidaya Mohamed Zahir, regarding the planned activities and the Anniversary plan. Ms. Selina Mohamed from the Registration department, gave a presentation on the tasks for the upcoming UWE Graduation 2019.

Our Rector, Dr. Ahmed Anwar delivered a passionate speech regarding the upcoming UWE Graduation. Dr. Anwar stressed the importance of teamwork and giving 100% for this event.

Letters given to staff selected for Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching

At the start of September, Villa College announced the opportunity for the full-time staff to be selected to complete the course, Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching. Higher priority was given to full-time teaching and academic staff without a teaching qualification. The main aim of this programme is to increase the quality of education given at Villa College.

On 15th September 2019, letters were awarded to the full-time staff selected to complete this programme. Session are set to be held as seminars and virtual classes. Providing training opportunities for the staff and helping them improve in their field is one of the main aims of Villa College.

Villa College Gan Campus officially inaugurated

Villa College Gan Campus has been officially inaugurated on Monday, 29th July 2019. The campus was officially inaugurated in an auspicious ceremony by the Rector of Villa College, Dr. Ahmed Anwar. Rector, Dr. Ahmed Anwar expressed his hope that the students in Laamu Atoll will make ample use of this opportunity to continue their higher studies in their home atoll, in his address. Moreover, the manager of the Villa College Gan Campus, Mr. Thoha Abubakur stressed the importance of students making use this opportunity to study from different fields while staying in their islands or atoll. Villa College Gan Campus is already home to some VC programmes of different fields and Mr. Thoha indicated that he hopes the students will make full use of this prospect. With the official inauguration of the Villa College Gan Campus, there are 7 Campuses and 16 Learning Centres throughout the atolls in Maldives.
